The Guild of Harwich Artists hosted a community-painted Mystery Painting Puzzle as part of the state-wide ArtWeek 2019. This year’s ArtWeek (April 26-May 5, 2019) presented by Highland Street Foundation and produced by the Boch Center, is an annual award-winning state-wide festival featuring hundreds of unique and creative experiences.
What is a Mystery Painting Puzzle?
Each painter was given a 3”x 3” photo image to paint on a 6”x 6” stretched canvas panel. The individual painters did not know what the larger image they contributed to, and therefore the mystery. Guild member artists were on-hand with supplies to mentor fledgling artists. As the 96 panels were combined during the day the mystery image was revealed, much like a completed jigsaw puzzle. Cyndi Williams, Executive Director of the Harwich Chamber of Commerce, offered to hang the completed Mystery Painting Puzzle in the lobby of the Harwich Visitor Center in Harwich Port for all to see.
