The Guild of Harwich Artists announces a free demonstration by artist and teacher Marian Strangfeld on Saturday, March 18, from 2 to 4 PM at the Harwich Community Center at 100 Oak Street in Harwich. Marian feels fortunate to have spent her working career in the arts, as a high school art teacher and fine arts curriculum director in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
Currently, Marian’s artistic time is devoted to her own painting, as well as teaching at the Chatham Creative Arts Center. In her work, Marian explores the landscape using a limited palette and calligraphic brushwork. Her aim is to reveal and express the evocative moods of nature.
In this demonstration, she will be using water based oils in a landscape painting, sharing ways to approach the subject and to translate ideas onto the canvas. As she paints, she would love to hear questions from the audience.
The Guild of Harwich Artists hold monthly meetings January through May, and in October and November, at the Harwich Community Center, 100 Oak Street in Harwich. Each meeting features a well known Cape artist demonstrator. All programs are free and open to the public.
