Gail cannot recall any stage of life that did not include a stash of treasured art supplies…from the largest box of Crayola’s to paints, dyes, papers, pot holder loops, fabrics, jewelry supplies, cameras, journals, canvases, coloring books etc. etc. etc. Life was always and continues to be an eclectic collection of artistic experiences with the most recent one being the publishing of her first children’s book, Mermaid Sighting in Chatham which features Gail’s grandchildren and grand dog in an adventure on an enchanted island off Chatham. The illustrations are acrylic paintings done by Gail.
Over the years Gail enhanced her college studies of elementary education and counseling to include the field of Expressive Art Therapy which has influenced all of the work Gail is now engaged in whether it be the Crafty Chics group she facilitates in Chatham these past 13 years, or the Artful Aging series of workshops she presents at the Council on Aging or just personal expressive artful engagement. Gail embraces the philosophy of Access, Release and Transform as a therapeutic life skill for herself and to share with others.
Being a new member of the Harwich Art Guild, Gail looks forward to participating in Art in the Park this summer with her series of Sightings in Chatham whimsical acrylic paintings of mermaid characters portrayed in her recent book. She will also be working with Donna Tavano at Eclectsia on Main Street in Harwichport with a line of mermaid handcrafted items of jewelry, notecards, hand dyed scarves and baby onesies as well as primitive wood pieces.
