Joy George

“I am inspired by landscapes and seascapes set in the unique light of Cape Cod, amazed by the color and dance of flowers, awestruck by the architecture and movement of the human form, haunted by the silence of old houses and empty spaces, and intrigued by the beauty in everyday objects. My desire is to create work with curiosity and honesty so my audience finds something surprising and engaging in what they see.”

Joy George attended the University of Houston for Architecture, then Fine Arts, completing a BFA. She studied at MassArt in Boston for her MFA in Figurative Painting and was accepted to the Newhouse School at Syracuse University where she studied Communications Design.

Her work has been featured in exhibits presented by the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, American Women Artists, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, and the Cape Cod Art Center.

She is a juried Artist member of the Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, as well as the Cape Cod Art Center and the Guild of Harwich Artists.

Other professional memberships include the Copley Society of Art, Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Chatham Creative Arts Center, the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, and the Provincetown Art Association & Museum.
