Peggy Masce Hosford

Peggy Masce Hosford has been producing art for 65 years. Her first work, at 5 years old, was an oil painting done with left-over paint scraped off her father’s palette. She hasn’t stopped drawing and painting since. Growing up there was always paint, paper and art supplies and a supportive father to give encouragement.

Hosford attended Moore College of Art for Women, Rhode Island School of Design, University of California at Santa Cruz, and finished her degree at Massachusetts College of Art.  She has studied with John Salminen and Andy Evansen.

Hosford works in watercolor, acrylic, ink and graphite. Her work is realistic with a strong element of drawing. She prefers to do landscapes on site outdoors, and detailed botanical illustrations or portraits in her studio. Hosford can often be found at Guild events such as the annual Paint the Town, HCT Wildlands Music & Art Stroll, and other en plein air opportunities.  She is also a member of the Creative Arts Center of Chatham.
