Joy George

The Pond by Joy George

“I am inspired by the color in florals and landscapes set in the unique light of Cape Cod, continually awestruck by the miracle and joy of the human form, haunted by the untold stories of old houses and empty spaces, and touched by the beauty in everyday objects and events. I am moved to make work that is meaningful to me, that communicates a curiosity and honesty giving the viewer a sense of the overall feeling the piece explores. My hope is always that my audience finds something surprising and valuable in what they see.”

Joy George attended the University of Houston for Architecture, then Fine Arts, completing a BFA, studied at MassArt in Boston for her MFA in Figurative Painting, and was accepted to the Newhouse School at Syracuse University where she studied Communications Design.

She is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America, a member of American Women Artists, and member of the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society.

A juried member of the Guild of Harwich Artists, George primarily works in oil on canvas or board and is represented on Cape Cod by The Art Gallery of the Guild of Harwich Artists.
