A Tribute to Sergeant Sean Gannon

A Tribute to Sergeant Sean Gannon

Harwich artist, Elaine Felos Ostrander, formerly from Stoughton, MA, has been creating tribute paintings for the past 20 years.  It started with her 911 Tribute:  United We Rise.  Ostrander’s tributes continued when she began working with the wives of the Boston Red Sox for their charitable endeavors.

Ostrander’s joyous tributes include Red Sox World Series Tributes; New  England Patriots Super Bowl Championships; Boston Celtics; and Boston Bruins. Her tragedy tributes include the Newtown Shooting; Boston Marathon Bombing; and for those with personal losses.

As a tribute to all K-9 dogs in Massachusetts, Ostrander painted a collage of various police dogs and donated the painting to the Yarmouth Police Department as a tribute to all the K-9 dogs who serve us so well.

When Sergeant Sean Gannon and his dog Nero were tragically shot in 2018,  Ostrander was asked to capture on canvas the outpouring of love the Cape Cod community and the police across the nation showed for Sergeant Gannon at his funeral.

With the help of photos supplied to her from the Yarmouth Police Department and six months of research and painting, Ostrander completed her most challenging tribute.  Next week the Sergeant Gannon tribute painting will be presented to the Yarmouth Police Department. (A copy of the image is attached.)

Locally well-known Orleans printmaker, Bob Korn, is working with Ostrander to digitally scan and reproduce the Gannon tribute image for future fundraising efforts for the Yarmouth Police Department.

Artist statement:  Elaine Felos Ostrander

In my tribute paintings, I illustrate the unpredictable events we encounter on a daily basis, as well as those that may be seen only once in a lifetime. Events that bring us great joy and celebration, as well as those that end in tragedy. Expressing what authors put into words, I tell stories with paint on paper and canvas.

Ostrander is a member of the Guild of Harwich Artists; The Art Gallery,  Harwich Port; The Creative Art Center, Chatham and the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Yarmouth.  Ostrander is an exhibiting artist in The Art Gallery of the Guild of Harwich Artists, 551 Main Street, Harwich Port, MA.
